0.2 Character Portraits, Menus, Performance


Hey,

Its been a few weeks but we have been hard at work on this update. The biggest visual update is the character portraits that are beginning to appear in the game. Throughout gameplay, you will see the passenger's face in the rear view mirror. Jessie's face is attached below. As well as Mabel's concept art.



changes:

  • Character portraits are beginning to appear in the game. Currently, only Jessie is included while the other character's use a placeholder.
  • Main Menu is included and can be accessed by pressing 'esc'.
    • Saving and Loading of the players position is now supported
      • upcoming patchs will support saving story progression and player settings.
    • Audio can now be altered via the main menu
    • Some video and performance options can be found in the menu too.
  • Pressing `'` (next to 1, above tab) will open a dev tool menu. This will allow the player to skip to later parts of a character's storyline
    • this is a dev tool to help us test new features and dialogue faster. I'm including it in the live build for repeat playtesters.
  • Performance has been improved where possible.
    • Notably, NPC traffic can have its density changed on the fly, or turned off completely. 
    • NPC traffic backend has been reworked for performance reasons.
    • Resolution and resolution scaling is now supported
